Why are they so driven by hate?

REQUEST

"Dear OpposingViews:

While I don't agree with the majority of your stamps, I agree with what you're doing here, and I'd like to make a request.

I've been an advocate for equality for various groups since the 80's (I took part in my first protest at 14) and I still am. That's who I am and I'm proud of it; no one can take that away from me.

That said, I've recently started getting involved in protests involving transgendered people and happened to notice that they're quite a bit more aggressive than other minority groups have been in their protests. I don't mean to generalize as there aren't a lot of them, but never have I seen so many people shouting out hatred toward various other privileged groups (Christians and whites especially) with any other group I've advocated for. I'm just hoping that this doesn't become a trend, because I do miss the strong feeling of empowerment and encouragement you used to see with homosexual and African-American protests.

Could you make a stamp about this? I don't mind what you put on it.

Thanks,
[name redacted]

Why does the group that's suffered the least hate the most?

im trans, and i think what people fail to realize is that anyone of any group can be shitty as fuck. like, a large amount of friends ive made that are in the same age group as me have been trans (or if they weren't trans, they were some variety of non-heterosexual) for years. it's not a thing i've done intentionally, but i've been out for about 7 or 8 years and people tend to make friends with people that they have things in common with, and since im pretty open and honest about being trans, that's just kinda how it happened. and, as people will sometimes make friends with someone and then later have a falling out or realize they're not as cool of a person as you originally thought, that has also happened with some fellow trans people i've been friends with in the past. some of my ex friends that are trans i just didn't end up having much in common with, or we fell out of touch. and some of them were actively shitty people. meanwhile, i also still have tons of trans friends, some of which i've known since middle school and have always stood by me and been fantastic friends. and everything i've said here also applies to any cis friends i had/currently have. some of them i just kinda stopped talking to for various reasons, some were actively shitty, and some have been good friends that i've kept in my life. so i will be the first to tell anyone that yeah, trans people can be shitty or great or somewhere in the middle. we're people, we have the full range of human ability to interact with others. that includes bad things. but if we're talking about protests specifically, a lot of the time when people have to deal with a bunch of bullshit it gets stuffed deep down inside. in a lot of places and situations, it isnt appropriate or possible to express frustrations and anger, which are normal human emotions that need expressed like any other. and people with lots of those emotions packed in from discriminatory shit happening throughout life will probably be more likely to want to change that by protesting for a certain cause, etc. protests are a place to let that all out, so a lot of it will come out hot and scalding. a lot of those same people are probably much cooler and calmer in everyday situations, but if you don't know all of them in everyday life you'd have no way of knowing. and if someone reading this has never met a trans person beyond interacting with posts on the internet and thinks the same thing, my advice is to perhaps consider that people do continue to exist when they log off, and most people are not entirely defined by things they say on the internet, especially if it's during a heated moment or to let off some steam when they're frustrated. also, it's a bit of a weird take to act like gay and black protests never got angry. stonewall was literally lgbt people throwing bricks at cops in a riot and that's what got us pride. the black panthers encouraged as many black people to get gun licenses and training and legally acquire firearms as possible. regardless of anyone;s opinion on these things, the fact of the matter is any protest about anything can get angry, because protests are for the purpose of saying "this is bullshit, i hate this shit, let's try to change it."

so, tldr: as a trans person i agree that trans people have just as much of a potential to be shitty as literally anyone, but it's weird to act like people letting off steam in situations where it's kind of expected for them to do that is a representation of how they are 24/7, or that no other groups do that as well.
